Meet the Artist

Hi, I’m Madeline — the mind and movement behind Twysted Genius. I grew up a military kid and a dancer, always shifting places, studios, schools, energy… nothing ever stayed still long enough to make sense. My whole life felt like fragments — beautiful but disconnected — like I was supposed to be someone, but I didn’t know who yet.

Then, during one of the strangest times in my life, an older friend of a friend accidentally taught me how to find flow. Not flow like the cute, aesthetic kind people talk about on TikTok — real flow. The kind where your brain finally shuts up and your body just knows. I became obsessed. I couldn’t stop.

I started painting in that state, letting my hands move without overthinking, and suddenly the same energy started bleeding into my dance and movement practice. My whole creative world cracked open. Images began popping out of the canvas on their own — shapes, figures, depth — all without a plan. That’s when I realized I wasn’t just “making art.” I was doing research. Accidental scientific research into the root of creativity itself, the blueprint underneath everything we feel and make.

Traveling the world deepened this even more. Every country, every stranger, every moment alone with my own mind pushed me closer to that deeper kind of flow. I’m writing a memoir about that journey — about what it feels like to chase yourself across continents until you finally catch a piece of the truth.

Honestly, I still don’t totally know how to share all of this with the public. I just know it wants out. It needs to live somewhere.
That’s why I started Twysted Genius — a place for the art, the clothing, the movement, the writing, the whole messy experiment of becoming myself. And if you’re here, you’re part of it now too.
